When I was a small child I created my first painting using my mother’s make-up as my paint palette and the carpet in my bedroom as my canvas. Although I thought it was a masterpiece my mother was not pleased to say the least. Blazing through coloring books and sketchbooks I eventually decided that being an art teacher was my ideal career choice. Since becoming a public school visual arts teacher I have looked for ways in which I can share with my students the joys of art through multiple media and various techniques and challenging students to make meaningful connections in their art making experiences.
